Darron Saltzman, Principal

Hort-IP Law is the brainchild of Darron S. Saltzman Esq., B.Sc. LLB (Hons) (Monash University). Darron is an established leader in his field, with over 30 years of experience as a Lawyer and Trademark Attorney specialising in the horticulture and agriculture (plants) industries.

Darron ensures each client is supported to take the first step toward cultivating a legally sound and thriving future by drawing on his deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that exist within the horticulture and agriculture landscape. 

Darron founded Hort-IP in 2019, following 23 years as a Partner at both Davies Collison Cave Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and Davies Collison Cave Law (Australia).

Darron is the author of the Chapter entitled “Plant Breeders Rights” in the Thomson Reuters publication - “The Laws of Australia”.

Working with International Fruit Genetics, LLC (“IFG”) based in California, USA, HORT-IP enabled IFG to achieve the status as the world’s largest privately owned proprietary breeding program for table grapes with 48 protected varieties - including the varieties marketed under the Trademarks Sweet Globe, Cotton Candy and Sweet Sapphire. 

IFG also had a portfolio of 10 protected sweet cherry varieties, including the varieties marketed under the Trademarks Cheery Grand and Cheery Treat.
